Two quick checks before posting: try clearing your browser cache, and press SHIFT+O on any Staff Panel page to enter Safe Mode (a stock osTicket with no enhancements). If the problem still shows in Safe Mode, it's in osTicket itself, not osTicket Awesome. But let us know about the issue either way.

It would be nice to have a switch in admin area like this: Do you want to show images by default: YES / NO
https://forum.osticket.com/d/78279-show-images-by-default-in-thread/10
Nowadays i think most users need to see the images in a ticket by default...
I agree that this should be an option. I've added it to my list of ideas for future development.
I highly recommend just commenting out lines 447 to 468 of include/class.format.php permanently in OsTicketAwesome, this is one feature I need to change with every release to make images show by default in threads. I really can't imagine hiding inline images is something people really want in a helpdesk (often people send screenshots for support requests). The only value I can see is to stop tracking of email opens, but as its a helpdesk you would presume this shouldn't be an issue.
