You Love the Engine.
We Fixed the Rest.
Same engine. Same reliability. Completely different experience.
30+ enhancements. Starting at $149/year.
osTicket is the best open-source helpdesk engine in the world.
Over 5 million installations. 20 years of continuous development. Used by organizations of all sizes in 190+ countries, from 3-person IT shops to teams inside Accenture, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, AstraZeneca, and the United Nations. Universities like IIT Bombay and the University of Kansas. Government agencies like eHealth Ontario. It quietly powers support operations in places most people would never expect.
The core feature set is genuinely impressive for a free product: email-to-ticket pipeline, custom forms and help topics, SLA management, ticket routing with regex-capable filters, agent collision avoidance, role-based access control, a full REST API, and a plugin system that extends it further.
We don’t compete with osTicket. We’re built on it. Every upstream release goes through a three-way merge with 30+ enhancements, then ships as a single, tested, production-ready package.
osTicket Awesome is a distribution of osTicket. The same relationship Ubuntu has to Debian, or macOS has to Unix.
The design hasn’t kept up with the engine.
osTicket’s most common criticism, across every review site, every forum thread, and every Reddit discussion, is the same: the interface looks dated.
The staff panel is not responsive. The client portal is not mobile-friendly. There’s no dark mode. There are no keyboard shortcuts for common actions. The default appearance hasn’t changed meaningfully in over a decade.
None of this affects functionality. osTicket works exactly as well on a phone as it does on a desktop; the data is all there. But using it on a phone is painful. And showing the client portal to your customers means showing them an interface that looks like it was built in 2008.
For many organizations, this is the one thing standing in the way of adopting what would otherwise be the perfect helpdesk for their needs.
Everything the interface needs. Nothing the engine doesn’t.
osTicket Awesome adds 30+ enhancements to osTicket’s core, focused on three areas: making the interface modern and responsive, making agents faster, and making the product enterprise-ready on first login.
Responsive Staff Panel
Full responsive redesign. Ticket queues, ticket views, replies, internal notes, and admin panels all work across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Responsive Client Portal
Card-based landing page, ticket submission, status tracking, and knowledge base browsing. All responsive. All professional.
Dark Mode
Per-agent toggle. Each agent picks their preference. Persists across sessions and devices.
17 Keyboard Shortcuts
Open tickets, post replies, change priorities, navigate queues. Every common action available without a mouse.
Inline Priority Editing
Change a ticket’s priority directly from the queue with a single click. No need to open the ticket.
Priority-Colored Ticket Rows
Urgent is red. High is orange. Visual triage at a glance.
New Reply Indicators
A pulsing dot and bold text flag every ticket with an unread customer reply.
Font Size and Row Density Controls
Per-agent preference. Adjust the queue to your eyesight and screen size.
10 Pre-Installed Enterprise Plugins
2FA, LDAP/AD, OAuth2 SSO, password policy, audit logging, S3 storage, attachment preview, filesystem storage, SSO passthrough, and Microsoft OpenID Connect. All configured and working on first login.
49 Language Packs
Every officially supported language pre-installed, including full RTL layout for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu. 90 custom translation keys per pack.
10 Color Themes + Custom CSS Editor
Pre-built themes, a live color picker, and a CSS editor in the admin panel. Make it yours without touching source files.
Professional Avatar System
Gravatar integration with a colored-initial fallback. No more generic silhouettes.
GDPR Cookie Consent Banner
Built in. Configure the message, link your privacy policy, done.
SHIFT+O Troubleshooting Mode
Press Shift+O on any page to see it rendered in vanilla osTicket. Instantly identify whether an issue is in osTicket Awesome or upstream. No other distribution offers this.
Same data. Different experience.
Press SHIFT+O in any osTicket Awesome installation to toggle between views instantly.
One download. One installation. Everything included.
osTicket Awesome is not a plugin, a theme, or a CSS overlay. It’s a complete package that replaces your osTicket installation while preserving your database, tickets, settings, and users.
New installations: Download, extract to your web root, run the setup wizard. Every enhancement is active on first login.
Upgrading from vanilla osTicket: Back up your config file, replace the files, restore the config. Your data stays intact. Your tickets, users, departments, and settings are all preserved.
Updating between osTicket Awesome releases: Same process. Back up config, upload new files, restore config. We handle the three-way merge with upstream osTicket releases so you don’t have to.
What about osTicket 2.0?
osTicket 2.0 is a ground-up rewrite of the platform, built on Laravel and React with an API-first architecture. It was announced publicly and is in active development. We’re excited about it.
That said, v2 is a complete rewrite, not an incremental update. Based on the scope of the project, production-ready releases are realistically a year or two away. The current stable version of osTicket (and osTicket Awesome) will continue to be maintained, updated, and supported throughout that transition.
We have our own plans for v2. When the time comes, osTicket Awesome subscribers will be the first to know. Stay tuned.
